AG Gansler Secures $160,000 Settlement in Medicaid Fraud Case
Baltimore County firm filed fraudulent claims with Maryland Medicaid
Baltimore, MD ( Jan. 14, 2013) - Attorney General Douglas F. Gansler announced today that All About You Health Care Services, Inc. (All About You), a Milford Mill firm, will pay $159,044 to resolve allegations that the nurse staffing and home health care agency submitted false claims to the Medicaid program. An investigation showed that services performed by All About You were done without adequate medical supervision in violation of Maryland Medicaid regulations. The payment provides restitution to the Maryland Medicaid program and includes additional penalties.
"These regulations are there to ensure that vulnerable Marylanders receive dependable, competent care," said Attorney General Gansler. "When these rules are violated we'll seek to make Medicaid whole again and make this sort of fraud too expensive to repeat."
All About You provides home health aides and nurse staffing services to individuals, as well as hospitals, long term care facilities and assisted living facilities in Maryland. While the company failed to abide by Maryland Medicaid regulations which require ongoing physician supervision, it also billed Medicaid for services not rendered in accordance with program regulations. Additionally, All About You allowed services to be provided by a home health care aide who resided with a patient in violation of applicable requirements.
Attorney General Gansler filed suit last February in the Circuit Court for Baltimore County and the settlement was reached during court-ordered mediation.
The case was investigated and litigated by the Attorney General's Medicaid Fraud Control Unit. In making today's announcement, Attorney General Gansler thanked Investigative Auditor Carol Kelly and Assistant Attorney General Jeremy Dykes for their work on this case.
