Task Force on Voting Irregularities to Hold Final
Public Hearing in Baltimore City
BALTIMORE, MD (January
17, 2008) – The Task Force on Voting
Irregularities will hold its last public hearing on Thursday, January
24th at 5:30p.m. at Sojourner Douglass College, 500 North Caroline
Street in Baltimore City. The public is invited to speak to the
members of the task force to share their experiences and any
problems
they may have encountered when voting in the 2006 primary and general
election.
Created last summer by Attorney General Douglas F. Gansler, the
Task Force on Voting Irregularities held hearings across Maryland
to hear firsthand from citizens the problems they encountered at
the polls. Co-chaired by Sherrilynn Ifill, professor at the University
of Maryland School of Law and Orlan Johnson, partner at Saul Ewing
LLP, the task force will compile a report detailing the irregularities
in the 2006 elections and make recommendations to resolve those
problems. The task force is expected to present its findings to
the Attorney General, Governor and legislative leaders early this
year.
