Task Force on Voting Irregularities to Hold Public
Hearing in Montgomery County
BALTIMORE, MD (January
4, 2007) – The Task Force on Voting
Irregularities will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, January
8, 2008 at 5:30 p.m. at the Council Office Building (COB) in the
COB
Lower Auditorium, 100 Maryland Avenue in Rockville. The public
is invited to speak to the members of the task force to share their
experiences and any problems they may have encountered when voting
in the 2006 primary and general election.
Created earlier this year by Attorney General Douglas F. Gansler,
the Task Force on Voting Irregularities will hold hearings across
Maryland to hear firsthand from citizens the problems they encountered
at the polls. Co-chaired by Sherrilynn Ifill, professor at the
University of Maryland School of Law and Orlan Johnson, partner
at Saul Ewing LLP, the task force will compile a report detailing
the irregularities in the 2006 elections and make recommendations
to resolve those problems. The task force is expected to present
its findings to the Attorney General, Governor and legislative
leaders by early next year.
