General Gansler Announces Members of the Attorney General’s
Environmental Advisory Council
BALTIMORE, MD (October
3, 2007) – Building on his efforts
to protect and improve the health of the environment and the Chesapeake
Bay, Attorney General Douglas F. Gansler announced today the members
of the Attorney General’s Environmental Advisory Council.
The council was created to assist the Attorney General in identifying
priority environmental issues and to help guide the Office’s
environmental policy and enforcement initiatives.
Consisting of a broad
range of environmental advocates, attorneys, and experts, the
Attorney General’s Environmental Advisory
Council will serve as a sounding board and resource for the Attorney
General as he continues to build on his environmental agenda.
“Over the last nine months, the Office of the Attorney General
has made great strides at stepping up our environmental enforcement
and advocacy efforts,” said Attorney General Gansler. “The
Environmental Advisory Council will help us pursue additional avenues
of enforcement and develop progressive environmental initiatives.”
Members of the Council
will meet several times a year to update the Attorney General
on a wide range of issues including:
- how the Office can
build stronger relationships with Maryland’s
environmental community,
- how the Office can
maximize available resources to achieve the greatest impact,
and
- how to better educate
the public to drive home the message of the urgent need to
clean up the environment.
The
members of the Attorney General’s Environmental Advisory
Council are attached.
