Columbia Man Charged with Illegal Disposal of Solid Waste in Baltimore County

BALTIMORE, MD (September 10, 2007) - Maryland Attorney General Douglas F. Gansler announced today that Brandon C. Farfaras, 24, of 6107 Jerrys Drive in Columbia, has been charged in the District Court of Maryland for Baltimore County with illegally disposing of litter for commercial gain. The charges allege that Farfaras violated the State’s litter control laws on December 13, 2006 by illegally disposing of 55-gallon metal drums at 4746 Hollins Ferry Road, Halethorpe, in Baltimore County.

If convicted of illegally disposing of litter for commercial gain, Farfaras could be sentenced to five years in prison and/or fined $30,000. The filing of charges is merely an accusation of criminal wrongdoing and each individual is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

These charges follow an investigation conducted by the Environmental Crimes Unit of the Office of the Attorney General with the assistance of the Maryland Department of Environment’s Emergency Response Division.
