Columbia Man Charged with Illegal Disposal of Solid
Waste in Baltimore County
BALTIMORE, MD (September
10, 2007) - Maryland Attorney General Douglas F. Gansler announced
today that Brandon C. Farfaras, 24,
of 6107 Jerrys Drive in Columbia, has been charged in the District
Court of Maryland for Baltimore County with illegally disposing
of litter for commercial gain. The charges allege that Farfaras
violated the State’s litter control laws on December 13,
2006 by illegally disposing of 55-gallon metal drums at 4746 Hollins
Ferry Road, Halethorpe, in Baltimore County.
If convicted of illegally disposing of litter for commercial gain,
Farfaras could be sentenced to five years in prison and/or fined
$30,000. The filing of charges is merely an accusation of criminal
wrongdoing and each individual is presumed innocent until proven
guilty.
These charges follow
an investigation conducted by the Environmental Crimes Unit of
the Office of the Attorney General with the assistance
of the Maryland Department of Environment’s Emergency Response
Division.
