FORMER STATE EMPLOYEE CHARGED WITH STEALING $6,500

Maryland Attorney General J. Joseph Curran, Jr. announced today that a Criminal Information has been filed against Kathy Joenell Robinson, of Belvedere Avenue in Baltimore, in the Circuit Court for Baltimore City.

The Criminal Information charges Ms. Robinson, 41, with one count of felony theft in connection with her former employment as a Fiscal Clerk in the Central Collection Unit of the Department of Budget and Management. It is alleged that between April 4, 2005 and May 2, 005, Ms. Robinson stole $6,500 of cash from the Central Collection Unit’s Baltimore office.

A criminal information is merely an accusation of wrongdoing, and every individual is presumed innocent until the charges are proven by the State beyond a reasonable doubt. The case was referred by the Central Collections Unit, and investigated by the Attorney General’s Criminal Investigations Division and the Maryland State Police.
