FORMER MONTGOMERY COUNTY RESIDENT SENTENCED FOR STEALING MORE THAN $84,000 FROM EMPLOYER

Maryland Attorney General J. Joseph Curran Jr., announced today the sentencing of 35 year old Andrea Massignani, aka Andre Massignani, who was convicted earlier this year of a theft scheme against his former employer, Sybase, Inc. Massignani, of the 81000 block of Indigo, California, pled guilty earlier this year to Felony Theft, before the Honorable James L. Ryan, Circuit Court for Montgomery County and was sentenced today to one year of probation and was ordered to serve 360 days of home detention while on probation. Massignani repaid all of the restitution owed.

Massignani admitted that beginning in December 2002 through March 2003, he created counterfeit Sybase, Inc. payroll checks and cashed them and made debit account payments to his personal creditors, including BMW Financial and American Express, using funds from Sybase’s payroll account. The theft total was $84,090.87.

The case was investigated and prosecuted by the Criminal Investigations Division of the Attorney General’s Office with the assistance of the Maryland State.
