FORMER
MONTGOMERY COUNTY RESIDENT SENTENCED FOR STEALING MORE THAN
$84,000 FROM EMPLOYER
Maryland Attorney General J. Joseph Curran Jr., announced today
the sentencing of 35 year old Andrea Massignani, aka Andre Massignani,
who was convicted earlier this year of a theft scheme against his
former employer, Sybase, Inc. Massignani, of the 81000 block of
Indigo, California, pled guilty earlier this year to Felony Theft,
before the Honorable James L. Ryan, Circuit Court for Montgomery
County and was sentenced today to one year of probation and was
ordered to serve 360 days of home detention while on probation.
Massignani repaid all of the restitution owed.
Massignani admitted that beginning in December
2002 through March 2003, he created counterfeit Sybase, Inc.
payroll checks and cashed
them and made debit account payments to his personal creditors,
including BMW Financial and American Express, using funds from
Sybase’s payroll account. The theft total was $84,090.87.
The case was investigated and prosecuted by the
Criminal Investigations Division of the Attorney General’s
Office with the assistance of the Maryland State.
