WALDORF WOMAN ARRESTED AND CHARGED
WITH IMPERSONATING A LICENSED SOCIAL WORKER
Maryland Attorney General J. Joseph Curran, Jr. announced today
that Letitia Jonelle Miller, currently residing in the 5900 block
of Sunfish Court, in Waldorf has been indicted and arrested in
Montgomery County for crimes including Counterfeiting and Practicing
Clinical Social Work Without a License. It is alleged that between
November 5, 2004 and February 11, 2005, Letitia Miller, 32, practiced
clinical social work at Innovative Behavior Treatment Center in
Silver Spring, Maryland by falsely representing that she had the
educational background and license to be a social worker. It is
further alleged that she counterfeited a social work license. No
trial date has been set.
While an indictment or charge is merely an accusation of wrongdoing
and every individual is presumed innocent unless the State proves
the charges beyond a reasonable doubt, if convicted, the maximum
penalty for Practicing Social Work without a Licence is 90 days,
a fine of $500, or both. If convicted, Counterfeiting a Public
Document carries a maximum sentence of 10 years.
This case was investigated by Office of the Attorney General,
Criminal Investigations Division (CID),the Maryland Board of Board
of Social Work Examiners, and the Maryland State Police. The case
will be prosecuted by the Criminal Investigations Division.
