TALBOT COUNTY MAN CHARGED WITH OPEN BURNING OF MEDICAL
RELATED WASTE
Attorney
General J. Joseph Curran, Jr. announced today that Brian Endzel,
50, of 29000 block of Howell Point Road,
Trappe, Maryland
has been charged in the District Court of Maryland for Talbot County
with open burning. The charges allege that Endzel violated the
State’s open burning laws on June 21, 2005 at his residence
in Trappe by causing an open fire and burning boxes containing
medical related waste and with burning materials that had not originated
on the premises.
If convicted of the illegal open burning, Endzel could be sentenced
to one year in prison and/or fined $25,000. The filing of a criminal
information is merely an accusation of criminal wrongdoing an
each individual is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
These charges follow a joint investigation conducted by the Environmental
Crimes Unit of the Office of the Attorney General and the Maryland
State Police with the assistance of the Talbot County Health
Department, Office of Environmental Health.
