EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF NON-PROFIT CONVICTED OF FRAUD
Attorney General J. Joseph Curran, Jr. announced today the conviction
of Linda P. Lively, of 23681 Newtown Rd., Worton, Maryland, the
former Executive Director of On Our Own of Cecil County, Inc.,
a nonprofit organization that benefits the mentally disabled.
Lively, 53 years old, pled guilty to fraudulent misappropriation
before the Honorable O. Robert Lidums, in the Circuit Court for
Cecil County. In a statement of facts read into the record, Judge
Lidums learned that between January 2002 and June 2002, Lively
used more than $10,000.00 of the organization’s funds to
support her gambling habit. The majority of the money was taken
via ATM withdrawals at Dover Downs, in Delaware.
Under the terms of the plea agreement, Lively can receive up to
3 years incarceration, with all but 9 months suspended. As a condition
of her probation, Lively will be required to repay $10,516.24 to
On Our Own, Inc., of Cecil County. Sentencing has been scheduled
before Judge Lidums for April 11, 2005.
The case was investigated by the Cecil County Police Department
and the Maryland State Police, and prosecuted by the Office of
the Attorney General, Criminal Investigations Division.
