FORMER
GENERAL MANAGER OF TRAVEL AGENCY SENTENCED TO 5 YEARS FOR FELONY
THEFT
Attorney General J. Joseph Curran, Jr. announced today that Rebecca
Calimer Price, age 30, presently residing in Greencastle, Pennsylvania,
was sentenced in the Circuit Court for Washington County yesterday
to 16 years in the Department of Corrections, with all but 5 of
those years suspended. Price was sentenced by the Honorable Donald
E. Beachley, who found Price guilty on July 6, 2004, after a three-day
court trial. During the trial, the Court heard evidence that from
January, 1999 through February, 2000, Price stole over twenty-three
thousand dollars ($23,000) from five customers of CW Travel, Inc.
Price convinced the victims to pay her, in cash and in checks made
out to her personally, by marketing trips and airfare at far below
their actual cost. Price then converted the monies to her own personal
use or to other business purposes, and the victims did not receive
their travel. Price was also ordered to pay $23,492 in restitution
to the five victims of theft, which she will be required to pay
after her release from prison.
The case was investigated by the Maryland State Police and was
prosecuted by the Office of the Attorney General, Criminal Investigations
Division. It was referred to the Criminal Investigations Division
by the Hagerstown Police Department.
