LAVALE
MAN CHARGED WITH FAILING
TO REMIT WITHHOLDING TAXES
Attorney
General J. Joseph Curran, Jr. and Maryland Comptroller of the Treasury
William Donald Schaefer jointly announced today that Douglas G.
Reineke, 54, the Secretary/Treasurer of CQ Services, Inc., a contracting
business, located at 13010 Gramlich Road, Lavale, (Allegany County),
has been charged with 16 counts of Failure to Pay Over Withholding
Tax, in connection with the operation of his business. It is alleged
that between February 2000 and May 2001, Reineke failed to remit
approximately $10,529.70 in withholding tax that he claimed was
due the Office of the Comptroller.
Charges
were filed on March 21, 2003 in Anne Arundel County Circuit Court.
All
individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable
doubt. If convicted he could be sentenced on each count to a maximum
of five years incarceration and a fine of up to $5,000.
The
case was referred by the Comptrollers Office and investigated
by the Maryland State Police and the Office of the Attorney General,
Criminal Investigations Division.
