PRINCE
GEORGES COUNTY WOMAN CHARGED
WITH UNLAWFUL DUMPING AND STORING OF TIRES
Attorney
General J. Joseph Curran, Jr. announced today that charges were
filed in the District Court of Maryland for Prince Georges
County against Betty Jean Neal, 36, of the 15000 block of Bondsmill
Road, Laurel, for the unlawful transport and disposal of scrap tires
in Prince Georges County.
Neal
was charged in two separate five-count criminal informations with
the unlawful transport and disposal of scrap tires in Hyattsville
and Laurel and with littering for commercial purposes. The offenses
are alleged to have occurred in April and May of 2002.
The
filing of a charging document is not evidence of guilt. Neal is
presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
No trial date has been set.
The
maximum penalty for each count of littering and unlawful disposal
of scrap tires is five years incarceration and/or a $25,000 fine.
The maximum penalty for unlawfully transporting scrap tires is $10,000.
