CURRAN’S ENVIRONMENTAL CRIMES UNIT CHARGES ESSEX MAN

Attorney General J. Joseph Curran, Jr. announced today that charges were filed against an individual for the unlawful dredging and filling of State wetlands without a permit in Baltimore County.

Scott Howard O’Day, 47, of the 1300 block of Wildwood Beach Road, Essex, was charged in a one count criminal information with the unlawful dredging and filling of wetlands without a permit at 1307 Wildwood Beach Road, Essex, between December 1,2001 and February 1, 2002.

The filing of a charging document is not evidence of guilt. O’Day is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

The maximum penalty for unlawfully dredging and filling in State wetlands without a permit is a $1,000 fine.
