MAN
CHARGED IN ANNE ARUNDEL AND BALTIMORE COUNTIES
WITH PRACTICING SOCIAL WORK WITHOUT A LICENSE
Attorney
General J. Joseph Curran, Jr. announced today that Larry Dexter
Williams, 33, currently residing on Goose Landing Circle, Columbia,
was charged in Anne Arundel County District Court on July 11 with
practicing social work without a license and misrepresenting that
he is a licensed social worker. It is alleged that the offenses
occurred in Anne Arundel County between February 21, 2000 and July
23, 2001. No trial date has yet been set in Anne Arundel County
on these charges.
Larry
Dexter Williams was also charged on August 1, 2002, in the District
Court for Baltimore County with unlawfully representing himself
as a licensed social worker and practicing social work in Baltimore
County without a license. It is alleged that he committed these
offenses between August 8, 2001 and November 16, 2001. A trial date
is set in Baltimore County for September 24,2002.
The
pending cases will be prosecuted by the Criminal Investigations
Division of the Maryland Attorney Generals Office. While an
indictment is merely accusations of wrongdoing and every individual
is presumed innocent unless the State proves the charges beyond
a reasonable doubt, practicing social work in Maryland without a
license is punishable by a maximum sentence of 90 days imprisonment
or a fine of $500, or both. Misrepresentation as a licensed social
worker carries the same penalty.
