CALVERT
COUNTY WOMAN CHARGED WITH PRACTICING
DENTAL HYGIENE WITHOUT A MARYLAND LICENSE
Attorney
General J. Joseph Curran, Jr. announced today that Tracy Deiter
Grimes, 34, of Port Republic, Maryland, was charged in Calvert County
District Court on one count of practicing dental hygiene in Maryland
without a license, and one count of misrepresenting herself as authorized
to practice dental hygiene, both misdemeanors. It is alleged that
the offenses occurred between February 19, 2001 and on or about
August 6, 2001.
A September
4, 2002, trial date has been set. The pending cases will be prosecuted
by the Criminal Investigations Division of the Maryland Attorney
Generals Office. While an indictment is merely an accusation
of wrongdoing and every individual is presumed innocent unless the
State proves the charges beyond a reasonable doubt, practicing dental
hygiene in Maryland without a license and the related charge are
punishable by a fine of $1,000.
