ATTORNEY GENERAL HOLDS PRESS CONFERENCE ON DOMESTIC VIOLENCE EFFORTS
Attorney General J. Joseph Curran, Jr., Family Violence Council Co-Chair, will hold a press conference on Wednesday, October 24 at 12 p.m. at Mercy Medical Centerís Sister Mary Thomas Conference Center in McAuley Room 3, to update the public on the Councilís efforts to combat domestic violence in Maryland.
October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, providing the backdrop for the announcement of the update to the Councilís report on Domestic Violence, "Stop the Violence: The Community Responds." In addition to the Councilís scope being broadened to focus on the needs of children, improvements in the areas of criminal justice, legislation, community education, victim assistance, abuser intervention and sex offender treatment programs will also be announced." The Attorney General will be joined by Kerrin Darkow, President of the Maryland Health Care Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Carole Brokos, RNC Coordinator, Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner Program.
