ATTORNEY GENERAL CURRAN TO TESTIFY MONDAY AT SENATE HEARING ON DIETARY SUPPLEMENTS
AG Will Tell Panel About Company That Sold Aloe As Cancer Cure

Maryland Attorney General J. Joseph Curran, Jr., will testify before the United States Senate Special Committee on Aging on Monday, September 10, 2001, at 10:00 a.m. in the Dirksen Senate Office Building. The Committe has undertaken an investigation to examine dietary and nutritional supplements marketed to members of the elderly population and invited the Attorney General to testify how the Maryland Office of the Attorney General investigates and prosecutes cases involving dietary and nutritional supplements, in light of civil action taken by Curran’s Office against T-UP, Inc., which marketed and sold aloe vera products, claiming them to be a cure for diseases like cancer and AIDS.
