Attorney J. Joseph Curran, Jr. acknowledged today that Maryland is among three states involved in an antitrust investigation of the gun industry. The investigation comes on the heels of the March 17 agreement by Smith & Wesson to restrictions on the way it makes and distributes handguns, and subsequent financial pressure the company has endured since the agreement was announced.
"Our office, in conjunction with the Attorneys General of Connecticut and New York, will be looking at whether there was a coordinated effort on the part of other firearms manufacturers in the industry to punish Smith & Wesson ," General Curran said.
