Study on Alzheimer's Disease Care
The
Attorney General has issued a report focused on State law and
policy
affecting people with Alzheimer's disease and their caregivers.
This report is intended to identify, and promote public discussion
about, the legal and policy environment in which care is delivered.
In carrying out this project, the Attorney General's staff reviewed
the pertinent literature, interviewed experts, and met with those
directly affected by this ailment.
"Over
85,000 Marylanders now have this terrible disease, and tens
of thousands
more will get it in the coming years," the Attorney General
said. "This
report reflects our effort to understand and address the policy
implications of this major public health problem."

recent letter of advice follows up on one aspect of the Report
by discussing the provision of the Maryland Vehicle
Law on physician reporting of certain medical disorders, often
including Alzheimer's disease.
