The
Courts & Judicial Affairs Division are the attorneys for
the Judicial Branch of State government. As such, we are counsel
to the judges of the Court of Appeals, the Court of Special
Appeals, the Circuit Courts, the District Court, and the Orphans'
Courts. We also represent and advise the clerks of each court
(including the Clerks of the Circuit Courts for each county)
and the Registers of Wills for each county.
The
Division also represents court-related agencies, such as the
Administrative Office of the Courts, the Standing Committee
on Rules of Practice and Procedure, the Commission on Judicial
Disabilities, the Attorney Grievance Commission of Maryland,
the Client Protection Fund, the State Board of Law Examiners,
the Maryland Mediation and Conflict Resolution Office (MACRO),
and the Maryland State Law Library.
In
addition, the Division represents select independent agencies,
such as the Maryland Tax Court and the Office of Administrative
Hearings.
